Cape Cod Masonic Angel Fund Activities – Summer 2016


“Angel Scoops at Ben & Jerry’s” – On June 21st, Universal Lodge, Pilgrim Lodge and St. Martin’s Lodge hosted a “Vermonster Challenge” at Ben & Jerry’s in North Eastham. With three Lodges participating along with community partners, over $2,200 was raised for the three Lodges’ Masonic Angel Fund chapters.


Beehive School ToolsMasonic Angel Fund Chapters from Wellfleet to Falmouth together with community partners provided Beehive School Tools school supply packages to 1,000 Cape Cod children. On August 8th, over 30 volunteers gathered at Universal Lodge to assemble 7,000 items into 1,000 packages. This group included Brothers from across the Cape, wives, children, teachers, a school principal and several community members. It took 85 minutes to assemble 1,000 packages, load them into waiting vehicles, sweep up and enjoy pizza.


Beehive Food Program – The MAF’s Beehive Food Program delivered its 3,500th monthly food package since 2012. A small team of volunteers works each month to purchase and assemble supplemental food packages that are distributed to MAF partner schools in Wellfleet, Eastham, Orleans, Brewster, Harwich, and Hyannis as well as to families at Joint Base Cape Cod.


Laptops for KidZ ProjectThe MAF’s Laptops for KidZ project received over 200 donated laptops in July and August. They anticipate an additional 200 machines during the fall. Laptops for KidZ has delivered over 1,500 laptops since 2010. Laptops are placed through partner schools and are sent home with children who do not have home computer access.


Laptops for Seniors Pilot Test – The Masonic Angel Foundation is pilot testing a “Laptops for Seniors” project in partnership with Senior Centers in Eastham, Chatham and Dennis. This project will provide free computers to low-income seniors to help with socialization, navigation of the health care system. The pilot test is operating in partnership with Comcast’s Internet Essentials broadband access program for low income households.


Beehive Winter Coats – MAF is trying to improve on last year’s winter coat program. Last December the MAF provided 270 winter coats, 180 hats, 180 mittens, 21 pairs of snow pants, 34 backpacks and 100 teddy bears to children from Wellfleet to Yarmouth.
